Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America - Barbara Ehrenreich I am going to be generous and give this book two stars. It's more along the lines of 1.5. My opinion may be due to the fact I had to read parts of this book not once, but twice for my classes. I did not like it. I would even go as far to say that in the ten years since this book's publication, it has become all but irrelevant. The American economy has changed vastly in the past years, and while certain ideas of this book hold true- working low wage jobs suck, etc.- some parts are not really relevant to today's economic situation. But maybe I am just young. Also, I didn't care much for Barbara, herself. She was surprised when things were rough and she seemed to think she was better than everyone else because of her education and economical class.Overall, do not recommend.
